Played over about a month, starting the week of October 5. Every round up to the final — the semifinals included — is scheduled between teams within that round's window. Only the final lands on a set date: Saturday, November 14 at 3:00 PM (rain date Sunday, November 15).

How the month plays out

How the tournament works

How does the Cup work?
It's a single-elimination doubles bracket, and every team plays in one bracket regardless of skill level. Win your match and you advance; lose and your run ends. The last team standing wins the Cup. Play runs over about a month, with a new round roughly every week.
How do I find out who we play, and when?
Once registration closes, we seed the bracket and post it on this page. At the start of each round we'll email both teams their matchup and share contact details so you can set up your game. You'll always know who you're playing and the window to play them in.
How do we schedule our match?
Each round has a window of about a week. The two teams pick a time that works for everyone and play at the Lakeside courts. Try to lock in a time early in the window — don't leave it to the last day.
What if we can't agree on a time, or the other team goes quiet?
Just reply to any of the tournament emails you've received from us, and we'll help coordinate. If a team can't be reached or won't commit to any reasonable time before the round deadline, that match may be forfeited so the bracket can keep moving. We'll always try to be fair.
How do we report our score?
The winning team reports the result by replying to your round's matchup email as soon as the match wraps, and we'll update the bracket here.
What happens if we lose?
It's single elimination, so a loss ends your run — but come back to watch the final and cheer on your neighbors. It's as much a block party as a competition.

Rules & play

What rules do we play by?
Standard USA Pickleball rules. Matches are self-officiated — players call their own lines and keep score, in the spirit of friendly neighborhood play. If there's a call you truly can't agree on, replay the point.
What's the scoring format?
Every match is best 2 out of 3 games to 11, win by 2 — the same format from the first round through the final.
What ball do we use, and do I bring my own paddle?
Standard outdoor pickleballs are provided on request for any match — just ask. Otherwise, bring your own. Either way, you'll need your own paddle and court shoes.
Can we swap a partner during the tournament?
Teams should stay the same throughout. If something comes up — injury, travel — just reply to any of your tournament emails; a substitute may be allowed with approval, as long as they're also a Lakeside On Preston resident aged 12 or older.

Signing up & logistics

Who can play, and what does it cost?
It's free. Both players on a team must be Lakeside On Preston residents and at least 12 years old.
I want to play but don't have a partner — can you help?
You'll need a partner to register, but send us a note through the contact form and we'll try to connect you with other neighbors looking for a teammate.
What if it rains?
Each round's window gives you room to work around the weather — just reschedule within the window. The final is set for Saturday, November 14 at 3:00 PM, with a rain date of Sunday, November 15.

We match each player's name against our neighborhood resident records, so please use the address you're on file at. Fields marked * are required; spots are first-come, and registration closes October 1.
